Five golden questions

Experts and enthusiasts of the mysterious CCTV space agree that the ability to PoE or transmission of electrical energy through the network is one of the most useful capabilities of today’s CCTV cameras; Nevertheless, there are still many key questions in this regard, such as the following.

Is it possible to double the power of PoE (power consumption) using a midspan and switch? Can each port alone have the maximum power of the PoE switch? And is it possible for a cable that is connected to the port on one side to be electrocuted without connecting to the CCTV camera?
Another question is, how far is it possible to transfer energy through PoE and along the cable?
And the last and most important question is whether it is possible for the CCTV camera that is connected to the adapter to be damaged by simultaneously connecting the network cable with PoE capability?
In the following, we will answer all these cases.
The answer to the first question is completely no. In fact, the switch or midspan cannot use the PoE source at the same time; Because the switch and midspan both draw power from the same power source and do not have the ability to supply a separate PoE; In this case, only PoE devices can use the nearest PoE power supply agent.
As for whether each port alone can have a maximum wattage of PoE, this is not the case in many cases and there is no guarantee. In fact, when the specifications of a port specify the maximum power supply for 802.3af equal to 15.4 or 802.3at equal to 60 watts, the possibility of producing this output depends on the total power of the PoE and the number of devices available on all ports. In these cases, depending on the electrical output of the devices, you may experience a drop in voltage or reduced performance of the devices.
Regarding the risk of electric shock, it can be said with certainty: Due to the power supply process based on the request of the connecting device, the PoE supplier without connecting to the device, does not induce electrical energy at the end of the cable and there will be no possibility of electric shock or such dangers.
Also, according to the IEE802.3 network standard, the maximum PoE range will be up to 100 meters. Of course, in some cases it can be transmitted and amplified over longer distances along the network; However, when the PoE standard is set to a maximum distance of 100 meters, longer distances cannot meet the standard network standard (although PoEE is not a problem) and you may experience data transfer problems.
Another question that comes to mind is whether it is possible to damage the CCTV camera that is connected to the adapter by simultaneously connecting the network cable with PoE capability?
In response, it should be said: this is not always the case; But caution should not be lost. In many cases, CCTV cameras or PoE devices still receive power from the adapter even when connected to a PoE power supply; But on older PoE devices, the simultaneous connection of the PoE and the CCTV adapter was warned at the same time.
Finally, it is interesting to note that PoE can help the user to install a CCTV camera by reducing the number of cables, as well as the power supply and data path in a cable.
Also, in older CCTV cameras that do not support PoE, equipment such as the Midspan cable can easily convert power to the PoE platform and can be used for older CCTV cameras.
